What Would You Do?

This exercise in Ethics has brought up feelings that would have me write this paper a lot different as (this is the third version of this paper due to changing views on how I should write it) I had to S-TLC this paper a few times to get the more logical answer to these questions. Except the listen phase is me listening to myself read my paper out loud.   I have taken the approach of Ethic versus Justice, I then realized it was more of right versus wrong.   How I view this assignment is what is right or what is wrong and I will attempt to do what is right. Ethics are defined as rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.: medical ethics; Christian ethics. Here are my rules of conduct. The Boss’s Expense Report In this scenario the boss gives me blank expense report and ask me to fill it in to reflect three hundred dollar.   It is then asked what I...

Yet Another Post About the Marine Corps

Back in November 10, 1775 our country needed an organization that would propel them to a victory in the venture for freedom.   That organization was born out of a necessity that the public wanted and understood importance of.   Over the next 236 years this organization has had to create an image that has had to change with the changing landscape of the very country that it has defended.   The Marine Corps is a non-profit organization that has developed a brand that the public has not only recognized but has accepted. This brand is synonymous with having member that are the Few and the Proud.   The Marine Corps has evolved in the way that it defends the country and it has also evolved in the way that it has gets its message out to the public.   Over the years the Marine Corps has had public crisis and has handled them the same way that it has handled battles like...

A MisCommunication Leads to an Unexpected Act of Interpersonal Conflict

In managing conflict I have come to understand that all of my conflicts are in direct correlation with my ability to communicate to other my intent or to simply relate information in a matter that the receiving party can understand.   One thing that I have come to appreciate is how a person’s background can affect their ability to communicate to others.   When you have people from different walks of life attempting to communicate utilizing their dialect, slang, position of authority, personal or even religious beliefs (or a lack thereof) can play a major role in how communication can create conflict.   This conflict can be intensified to a level that of interpersonal conflict.   Abigail and Kahn (2011) pg. 3 defines interpersonal conflict as “a problematic situation with the characteristics of the conflicting parties being interdependent, and that there is a sense of urgency about the need to r...

Organization Networking

At the beginning of this class I had to attend a military transition course.   It was a week long course where I had to go to class dress attire that one would wear if they were going on a job interview.   I sat through class after class about how to transition from being military personnel to becoming a civilian.   In the class they address the many obstacles that I would run into when returning to the civilian world. One of the obstacles that frightened me the most had to be searching for a new job.   With the job market being what it is, and the fact that I have not had to do a job interview in quite a few years this concern was at the for front of my mind.   Whenever they mentioned anything about starting a new career my ears would perk up, and would take very close notes.   After a while be began to notice a pattern to what each of the speakers said.   They stated that although it would be difficult to find a job o...

Five Deadly Conflict Topics

This paper take five conflict topics; Why does conflict occur; Role of personality types in conflict management; Ethics and workplace conflicts; Organization conflicts; and Forgiveness, and I gives personnel experiences and interpretations of each. Throughout the paper I will relay to you the reader what approach I take to each of these conflicts in an effort to relay to you my personnel approach, and how I utilize different ways to resolve conflict. Some of these approaches have been successful and some are a result of me looking back over situations and thinking about how I could have taken a different approach. I decided to place these topics in this order to create a personnel flow that will be reviled at the end of this paper. Why does Conflict Occur      Conflict=emotions X level convictions. Take for example, I was raised to believe that everyone should be treated equally no matter what their religious, social, ec...
